Family and Children Photographer | Family of Three

With all this warm weather coming this weekend, I thought it was fitting to post some images from a session I photographed on a warm June morning. Now, we’re not reaching June temperatures, but for February, we are going to be in for a treat.

I met this beautiful family at Horner Park. Their little girl was turning one and mom and dad wanted to make sure they had images to commemorate the important milestone. Her smile made this already sunny day, even brighter.

Child Photographer | 1 Year Session & Cake Smash

This little lady was so cooperative, we were able to use numerous backdrops for her 1 year session. We started off with the bedpost backdrop. I really like this one and wish I had the opportunity to use it more.

We followed it up with a swirly heart backdrop. The smiles were still coming.

The cake smash was the big finale and she didn’t disappoint. Frosting on the face and in the hair, sure signs of a successful session.

Having a February birthday has always been a bit of a drag. As a kid, it would have been nice to celebrate a birthday in the great outdoors. Something about party games and cake cutting in freezing temperatures just never seemed very appealing.

So, it was nice to celebrate this little guys first birthday, with a cake smash session in his very own backyard. It was a beautiful, warm, May day.

We first grabbed a few shots inside before the cake began to fly outside. No one makes a bow tie look better then this cutie.

Child Photographer | Cake Smash Session

A cake smash session can go in any many directions. You may have a child that loves the taste of cake and frosting, so much so, they don’t even care about the feel of the stickiness between their fingers and toes. Then there are those that try to enjoy the sweetness, but just can’t get past the goo and grossness of it all. This 1 year old tried to have fun, but like his mother (my sister-in-law), could not handle the mess.

I’m sure my nephew will not appreciate these images when he’s older. I, on the other hand, will cherish them.

Have Your Cake and Eat It Too | Indoor & Outdoor Session in One

Chicago Family and Children Photographer | Sharon Gaietto Photography

It doesn’t happen often, but on those rare occasions, everything just clicks and records are broken. I offered a family an outdoor session and an indoor session with a cake smash. I allowed at least an hour and a half to accomplish it all. I had the entire session shot in less then an hour. It was all done in record time!

We first met at the local park, just a few minutes from my studio. There, I was able to photograph the birthday boy, who was being very cooperative.

I then got a few shots of the family. A few clicks of the camera and we were off to the studio.

Once at the studio, I grabbed a few shots in front of a cream backdrop (purchased at LemonDrop Stop). My little buddy didn’t skip a beat.

We wrapped up the session with a yummy whipped cream topped birthday cake. It was probably one of my sweetest sessions. Two locations, three backdrops and a cake in 48 minutes!

Smiling for the Big O-N-E!

This little lady came by the studio to have one year pictures taken. She had the best smile. Her entire face lit up. Even when she wasn’t smiling, the cuteness could not be stopped. I have to admit, it made me a little nervous when she sat on the wooden box. However, her balance was quite impressive. I still had her dad close by to make any necessary catches.
